DAY 18: City Hall, Seoul Station & Hongdae

So, we had our second exam and assignment today.

After classes, Cynthia and I then went to City Hall to have a look at the outdoor ice rink and the Seoul Metropolitan Library that is right where the ice rink is. We went to a nice stationery/gift shop called Danuri after wandering around the library and its exhibitions for a bit.

From there, we walked towards Seoul Station (5-10min walk), where the Lotte Outlet Mall and Lotte Mart were. Lotte Outlet wasn't very cheap at all (though it might be if you like higher end things). It's like Myers or David Jones in Australia and it sells mostly branded clothes and accessories from past seasons.

Beside the outlet mall, Lotte Mart was quite crowded and big, similar to the Giant malls in Singapore where they sell everything, from clothes and homeware to cosmetics and food. I probably should have gotten my ginseng tea there (which Korea is known for) because I thought I could go back but ultimately didn't have the time.

Pro-tip: Even though Lotte supermarkets around Seoul don't always have the best deals, the prices at Lotte Mart @ Seoul Station are pretty decent and it's great if you wanna stock up on those Korean snacks and food!

Anyway, I wasn't too fussed about not going back, since I didnt have much to get there anyway. At this point in the trip, I had gotten most of the cosmetics, skincare, clothes and food that I wanted to buy.

After that, I split from Cynthia and went to Hongdae for dinner. On this night, I was on a mission to find Zara and Stylenanda. I didn't manage to find Zara after walking around in circles but I did go to H&M and Shoppen (Shoppen has fairly cheap shoes and scarves!). I also bought some earrings from a shop in Hongdae.

I managed to find Stylenanda, a streetstyle Korean brand known for their effortlessly cool clothes and bright makeup. It was tucked further into the Hongdae suburb and the streets were much quieter. As expected, the whole place was very hip and cool (and the prices very high) so I took a quick look around before taking the 7337 bus back to the dorm.
